According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the national unemployment rate was at 3.7 percent yet again, and has remained this low for the last few months. Vermont had the lowest employment rate at 2.1 percent, and only two states had an employment rate above 5 percent. Most states didn’t have an employment rate that was significantly different from the national average.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics also recently reported on the amount of job gains in July by state. Since last year at the same time, 25 states added jobs and the other 25 had little change in jobs. The biggest job gains were seen in the Southwest, with Nevada and Utah having over 3 percent more jobs than they did a year ago.
